SYRIA: Make sure you know who the bad guys are...

All week I have been hearing calls for President Obama to do something about Syria; how can we allow the dictator of Syria, Bashar Assad to gas his own people?

It is true that a year ago, Obama said that if Assad started using chemical weapons against his own people, the United States would be forced to act.

But the pressure from the GOP is pure politics and has nothing to do with reality on the ground and that just pisses me off.

The huge factor is that we have no idea who used the chemical weapons. Assad, just today, said come and investigate and determine if my people used those weapons and you will find that we did not.

Would the rebels use chemical weapons against the people they are trying to free from Assad’s rule? Hell yes they would; anything to lay blame on Assad’s army.

The one thing that people reading about all the atrocities in Syria fail to understand is who makes up the government and who makes up the rebels fighting the government; it is not that simple.

In a previous blog, I mentioned that the government was controlled by ALLOWITES. Who are these people? They are Muslims who are an offshoot of the Shiite brand of Islam. Shiites, as you remember are most heavily represented by IRAN; Shiites are sworn enemies of SUNNIS, another brand of Islam.

I will not go into the history of Islam and how these two versions of the same religion came about but suffice it to say that they have no problem slaughtering each other and are doing just that as we speak.

The Syrian government of Assad is supported by the ALLOWITES who have their own brand of Islam, IRAN who is Shiite and HEZBOLLAH, a Shiite militant group out of Lebanon who is a stooge of Iran and a sworn enemy of Israel.

The rebels are a mixed bag of SUNNI MUSLIMS who either want to establish a SUNNI SYRIAN religious theocracy or Muslim secularists that just want a democratic state. Believe me that al-Qaeda is involved big time and we all know what their end game is.

Calls to have the U.S. arm the rebels with sophisticated weapons was tricky as we did not really know who we were arming; maybe al-Qaeda who would then turn on us once in power.

Obama is now signaling that he will do something to prevent further attacks on civilians. I hope he has definitive proof who is behind those attacks and does not pull another Bush move.

There is no real logical reason for Assad to use chemical weapons knowing that using them would draw the U.S. into the conflict…I hope Obama waits patiently to get the facts straight first before pressing the red button…

I HAVE A DREAM 1963-2013

Today, many of the news channels are talking about the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington (1963) and the I HAVE A DREAM speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The people at MEET THE PRESS were asking their guests if the American dream was still alive and well.

Many, now prominent people recounted how it was their parents that guided them to realize their dreams. Many came from families in poverty where education was a primary concern and goal even though the parents themselves were not educated. Many cited either their fathers or their mothers as responsible for where they are now. Some were immigrants that had to learn English; all had remarkable stories.

The country has come a long way since 1963 but some of the same issues still remain; how can people born into poverty rise above the roadblocks life gives them and make their lives into success stories.

What many people on the show said was get an education and one person said, get a very large vocabulary…interesting.

Well kids cannot do this on their own; they need caring parents or even a parent to care about their future and push them if necessary in the right direction.

Many people at the 2013 celebration of the 1963 march wore Trayvon Martin t-shirts and said that the “dream” has not been achieved when an innocent black teenager is killed walking home from the store and the killer is set free.

This sentiment was countered by recent events where an Australian student was shot in the back and killed while jogging by two black teenagers who said they were just bored and wanted to do something exiting.

The other incident involved a World War 2 vet who was dragged out of his car, robbed and beaten to death by two black teenagers.

This issue was addressed in our Sunday paper by Rochelle Riley, a respected black journalist in Detroit.

Obviously crimes are committed by people of all colors but the totally disproportionate amount of crimes committed by African-American men and in most cases against other African-Americans just screams for solutions.

And this is where many are pointing to the hoopla surrounding the Trayvon Martin case with even words from our president and the utter lack of any attention to the cases just mentioned.

The criticism being leveled here is the inattention of the black community and especially black leaders to the “real” problem in the community and that is not being able to raise children (black males) in a proper environment that fosters proper goals and behaviors that lead to a successful life as a responsible member of the American society.

If Dr. King was with us today he would undoubtedly comment on the vast strides made in racial equality since 1963 but he would also be alarmed at what is happening in his beloved black community, especially in how black males are raised.

As mentioned by many of the successful guests on the Meet the Press program; parents and parenting is the key.

EGYPT: Historic moment...

I have been following the action in Egypt for some time now.

As I have previously stated, the government there was democratically elected so a military coup to oust a democratically elected government should be against our American democratic values and not supported UNLESS…

The democratically elected government of MORSI started taking steps to write a constitution that would limit democratic freedoms and instead promote the power of the Muslim Brotherhood, in effect, creating an Islamist state.

This is not good for the people of Egypt where a large young population has grown up in the internet age and cannot be fooled and bamboozled or even scared into abandoning their love of reason and free thought for  the superstitions and backwardness of religious rule; theocracy.

IRAN is a great example of what can happen when a dictator falls and a religious dictator takes over.

Here in the U.S. the politics about Egypt are going in predictable fashion with the Republicans attacking Obama for supporting a military coup against a democratically elected government which is against our own rules.

John McCain of all people, said it was morally unacceptable to support a military coup which is total political bullshit which the Republicans know all too well but want to use the opportunity to slam Obama politically while being the usual hypocrites that they are; they would never want a country to become an Islamic state and therefore an enemy of the U.S. which is what they are encouraging Obama to allow…what shitheads.

The U.S. media is also doing its darnedest to show how brutal the military reaction to the protests for the Muslim Brotherhood has been “how can they fire on their own people?” and the prime minister replied “because the people are firing on them” you idiot!

The reality is that probably most of the protesters are regular citizens pissed off that their candidate was ousted but the militants in the crowd fire their weapons knowing full well what the military will do and this is their attempt to gain sympathy for the Muslim Brotherhood by forcing the military to fire on “innocent” civilians due to one militant in the crowd firing his weapon at the military.

The military must make a deal whereas a constitutional convention will be held to write the new constitution and this constitution will be worded in such a way as to prevent any one party (Muslim Brotherhood) from taking over the country and changing the country into a theocracy.

We have such a constitution and as much as the religious nuts in this country want to insert their religious views into our daily life; the constitution blocks them and that is what freedom is really all about; you cannot cram your views and beliefs down people’s throats by force when they do not agree with those views or beliefs.

If there is to be a new world order it has to relegate militant Muslims into a political party; one political party among many with a voice in government but not the only voice. Secular Muslims will form their own political parties as will Coptic Christians and the right to this form of government can only be guaranteed by a well written constitution.

In Egypt, the Islamists have been kept in check by the dictator Mubarak but as soon as he was deposed, the Muslim Brotherhood saw their chance at total domination.

The same thing is happening in Turkey, a Muslim country that was secularized by Ataturk early on and kept that way sometimes by military force. The country and its people have prospered due to its secularism but recently a democratically elected Islamist has been trying to move the country into a theocracy.

In both countries, it is the young people that are opposed to any movement making their country an Islamic state and their lives controlled by religious leaders and it will be those same young peoples that will change the world order and finally bring light into the darkness that has existed for so long and continues to exist because of religion.

Obama has a hard choice as far as giving military aid to a military killing its own people; how can we aid the Egyptian military without looking like we condone slaughter…hmmmmmmm.
