DETROIT BASHING: There are good reasons for it...

If I am going to be called a Detroit Basher let me ask some questions to determine if Detroit deserves bashing…

Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit’s most corrupt mayor who stole millions from his city, was in town for his upcoming trials on corruption. A large crowd of Detroiters gathered around him and cheered him on?

Yes, he stole from the citizens of Detroit but yet, many consider him a hero and would elect him mayor if he ran again and he knows that.

He stole millions yet we the taxpayers, are paying for his high priced legal team because giving him a regular public defender would not be fair to him? WTF?  For you that don’t know what WTF stands for it stands for What the Fuck. How about him paying his own legal bills with all the money he stole!

Recently, one of Kilpatrick’s henchmen was tried for corruption and with overwhelming evidence against him, the trial was declared a mistrial because one Detroiter on the jury just would not convict him and that is why Kilpatrick is smiling so much; he can’t get convicted because all he needs is one sympathetic Detroiter on the jury that thinks of him as a hero and damn the evidence.

The Detroit Water Department has 1,978 employees, keeps raising rates because it cannot control costs and has been implicated in various corruption schemes was recently audited by professional consultants who declared that the entire department can run efficiently with 374 employees. Do you see a problem here?

Mayor Bing is making big promises to the citizens of Detroit how he will fix everything that needs fixing in the city like the lack of public lighting just as soon as the state of Michigan / Michigan taxpayers give him the money to fix things.

Knowing how utterly incompetent and corrupt city government is, why would anyone give him even a penny?

And for those that criticize me for advocating an emergency manager for communities that are heading for bankruptcy as trying to take away their democratic rights to decide their own fate, I just point to Judge Silvia James of Inkster, Michigan.

She was revealed to be running a corrupt courtroom for years, violating all sorts of laws and ethical standards and the Michigan Supreme Court threw her off the bench for gross misconduct.

And what do the idiots in Inkster do…they basically re-elect her to the bench…WTF?

Brings to mind the saying THE MASSES ARE ASSES.

So if your democratic rights are temporarily taken away by a emergency manager it is only because you were incapable of handling your affairs in a proper and responsible manner and now a responsible adult manager has to fix your screw-ups.

DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Why we need an EM Manager!

I have been accused of being a Detroit basher and I will accept the title as long as the citizens of Detroit allow corrupt, incompetent and arrogant people to lead them into utter chaos while they demand to be bailed out by others.

THIS IS ABOUT THE EMERGENCY MANAGER LAW OF MICHIGAN which many in Detroit want overturned and here is a good example why that should never happen.

SCHOOL BOARD SEIZES ON SUSPENSION OF EM LAW.

The Detroit Board of Education was so corrupt and incompetent that they ran the Detroit Pubic Schools (DPS) into the ground. An emergency manager was appointed and he has made remarkable progress in putting the school system back in shape but he had to kick some ass to get it there especially some teacher union ass.

Since the EM Law has been suspended pending the November elections where people will decide whether to keep the EM law; things have reverted to the bad ole’ days where corruption and incompetence ran rampant.

The Detroit School Board which has been neutralized by the EM manager has immediately seized control back from the EM manager and has halted and reversed his plan(s) to improve the school system.

This is a good example of what will happen if the EM law is reversed. This example shows definitively why Detroit and Detroiters cannot be trusted to do the right thing for their children’s education and I will expand that to mean they cannot be trusted to run the city without running it into the ground while asking for more money to keep running it into the ground.

How can you NOT bash that kind of behavior!

DEARBORN PRIEST: Drunk and Driving Naked...

DIOCESE SUSPENDS ARRESTED PRIEST; Dearborn pastor charged with DUI, obscene conduct.

This is a headline that is bound to make you read on especially when it is in a nearby area such as Dearborn.

PRIEST TOLD HE WAS HOT - LIKES TO DRIVE NAKED (headline on day two).

It seems the Reverend Peter Petroske (57) who is pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn was stopped by local police after a motorist called 911 to report a naked driver at 11PM on Telegraph Road near Michigan Avenue.

He was drunk and naked and told police he was embarrassed.

Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn has a school and 1,900 member families and he is their leader.

I can understand the drinking but I really can’t understand the driving naked part. If he was that hot he should have turned on the A/C; obviously there is something else at play here.

Priests are human and have problems like other humans do but I think priests are under more pressure and stress because they cannot live like other humans and in the end, some just snap.

The lives of priests are abnormal and my point is that their lives do not have to be abnormal if the Vatican would just allow priests to lead normal lives by allowing them to marry and have families.

I am speculating of course as to what made the pastor behave in this very aberrant manner but I think I am not far from the truth here.

I wonder how many priests reflect on their lives especially those in their 50s, contemplating their final years in this abnormal environment. Many just suffer quietly but some maybe not so quietly as in the case of Father Petroske…

SIKH MASSACRE: Where is the hatred coming from?

We were all shocked when we heard about the Sikh Temple shooting in Wisconsin, coming so soon after the movie theater carnage in Colorado.

When I heard about the person that did the shooting, I just shook my head in disgust.

Wade Michael Page was a loser that lost his job, lost his girlfriend, lost his trailer and lost his car so he had to blame someone or some people for his dire predicament because surely he could not take personal responsibility for being in the pickle he was in…lets blame those people…shoot a few or many and go out in a blaze of glory…

Page was into White Supremacist groups and played in bands associated with those groups. Those groups have totally disowned him after the shooting saying he is just plain crazy but some army buddies of his have said that he hated all non-whites and was waiting for the “revolution” to begin.

Here in Canton, Michigan and surrounding areas, we have quite a few Sikhs and a number of Sikh temples. They are a very peaceful and tolerant group and are distinguished by the turban the males wear (they can never cut their hair) and by their last name Singh which they all share.

Many confuse them with Muslims which they are not but have been attacked after 9/11 by people who mistook them for Muslims or Taliban; that you can blame on our collective ignorance of other cultures.

The guy in Colorado dressed as the Joker from the Batman story, was insane but this guy was sane, just filled with enough hatred to kill over and over again.

We as a nation have a history of intolerance even though we are known as a melting pot of peoples. You would think that we have come a long way since the bad ole’ days but have we really…

I will be watching for news of this guy’s background, his upbringing, his family, his friends…the hatred had to come from somewhere; we are not born hating, we learn to hate.

THE SYRIAN SITUATION...

The revolt or even the civil war in SYRIA has been in our news on a daily basis for some time now. Many of us assume that the revolt is part of a general revolt in the Middle East that has seen dictators in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia overthrown by the citizenry for a different form of government which is still to be determined?

In Syria Bashar al-Assad is the dictator who followed his father into dictatorial power. Unlike the other countries that overthrew their dictators, the Syrian dictator is actually waging war against the rebels as in waging war against his own people?

Well maybe not.

The Syrian situation is a little different in that the government of Assad is composed of ALAWIS who are about 12% of the population of Syria and who also control the armed forces in Syria.

The people termed ALAWITE profess an ISLAMIC religion but are not seen by Sunni Muslims or Shia Muslims as Muslims at all. The little that is known about the Alawite religion is that their religion is a mixture of many religions, even Christianity and they don’t practice the customs of other Muslims like requiring women to wear some form of covering like a veil or burka.

You may say that the Alawis and the Assad government are very, very secular and therefore very tolerant of other religions. BUT most of the population of Syria is Sunni Muslims; there is a sizable minority Christian presence there also.

The rebels are basically Sunni Muslims trying to take power away from the Alawi Assad and the Alawi minority some say to turn Syria into an Islamic state; from one dictatorship to another?

The United States is helping the rebels defeat Assad and our news media is painting the rebels as the good guys and Assad and the Alawis as the bad guys but the rebels, if they win, could become our enemies by forming a Sunni IRAN.

I suppose we are aware that a Sunni dictatorship may take the place of an Assad Alawi dictatorship but are willing to take the chance that the rebels will not allow another dictatorship to form after so many have died to depose the existing dictatorship?

The Alawis in Syria are part of a greater population of Alawis living in Turkey and Lebanon where they are also despised by local Muslims who consider them pagans.

So is this a religious war or an ethnic war or just a power struggle…interesting…what do it all mean…

To me as a businessman, I could be selling a lot of my medical products into Syria but we are banned from doing so right now. I could be also selling to Iran but have been banned from doing so for many years but I may have found a way under “humanitarian medical supplies” which are allowed.

In my mind, the sooner we can do business in those countries, the sooner they will quit fighting among themselves and get down to normal living and the search for happiness and wealth. Look how that worked in China

DO NOT REPEAL EMERGENCY MANAGER LAW

THE EMERGENCY MANAGER LAW IN MICHIGAN IS A GOOD AND NECESSARY LAW SO VOTE TO HAVE IT REMAIN ON OUR BOOKS AND NOT REPEALED!

The Michigan Emergency Manager Law makes perfect sense for communities that are facing bankruptcy.

If a city like Detroit went into bankruptcy, a judge would bring the city back into solvency by eliminating all spending and selling off all assets to pay down the debt owed by the city…that simple.

A judge would not care about laying off all employees and selling off all prized city possessions; he would just do it as demanded by bankruptcy laws.

An emergency manager is hired by communities to help them avoid bankruptcy.

Why are people trying to “repeal” the Emergency Manager Law and have placed a “repeal” proposition on the November ballot?

The people trying to repeal the EM Law are those idiots in Detroit that do not wish to cede control of their city or city institutions like Detroit Public Schools to someone like an emergency manager who is in essence, a financial dictator.

I call them idiots because they do not realize that there is no other alternative except bankruptcy which is much worst than allowing an EM to make things financially well again.

Detroit schools were a den of corruption, mismanagement and incompetence; Detroit children were being robbed by those running their schools and it is exactly those people that were doing the damage that are against an EM who kicked their asses out of the school system and put many of them in jail.

In the city of Detroit, it is the same story. Those that robbed the city blind are the ones that want to repeal the EM Law.

Unions want the law repealed because the EM Law gives the emergency manager powers to cancel lucrative union contracts that can no longer be financially sustained or even justified.

For the citizens of Michigan, the Emergency Manager Law gives them the security of knowing that their tax dollars are not being squandered on communities being run by corrupt and incompetent people.

VOTE NO ON THE REPEAL PROPOSITION!
