POPE BENEDICT: Priestly sex abuse is such a MYSTERY?

Do I pick on Pope Benedict? Hell yes! Anyone who claims to be the representative of God on earth and tells us all what is right and what is wrong and how we all should behave in all matters, better be a perfect human being himself and dispense only perfect wisdom…and when he acts like a dumb ass, I let him know it.

Ireland, the most Catholic of countries, has suffered tremendously at the hands of abusive priests and bishops that covered up their abuse and to this day they have not experienced justice and in fact have to put up with a cardinal that has been implicated in the cover-up but refuses to step down and the pope will not make him step down.

The 50^th International Eucharistic Congress took place in Dublin, Ireland which prompted the pope to send over a message in which he states that he cannot explain why priests behaved the way they did adding IT REMAINS A MYSTERY.

The catholic Church likes to use the word MYSTERY and even a DEVINE MYSTERY when it has no idea what the hell it is talking about as in the mystery of the trinity which makes absolutely no sense at all but is OK because it is a mystery that we mere mortals will never understand OR we made up this stupid concept of the trinity and now have no way of backing out of it and so we just call it a mystery.

Pedophile men were attracted to the priesthood because of the easy access to children and the fact that priests were above reproach and had power over innocent children who believed that priests were too saintly to harm them and so complied easily…this is no big fuckin’ mystery.

But obviously the pope is befuddled as to how men who took communion and confessed regularly could do such things…because they are sick animals that played the church big time because they knew the idiots at the top could not own up to the fact that priests were sick ass animals and just covered up their crimes…what a great place for pedophiles to be.

The poor pope is so confused but probably feels it is all part of God’s grand plan…really?

How about throwing the whole lot of them in jail…mystery solved.

US CATHOLIC BISHOPS don't follow own rules...

Wall Street Journal: U.S. BISHOPS STILL STONEWALL ON SEX ABUSE David Gibson.

I wrote that some time ago U.S. bishops met to address the growing problem of priestly child sexual abuse and adopted certain rules that would help in preventing the abuses but the problem still remains because bishops themselves are not obligated to follow these rules and only answer to the pope.

The Conference of Catholic Bishops is slated to meet again, this time in Atlanta and expectations are that nothing will change.

To put it in simpler terms, Bishops themselves were responsible for allowing abuser priests to continue their abuse in light of damning evidence of abuse that the bishops were privy to.

There are a number of cases where bishops are on trial in criminal court for their actions in failing to report deviant behavior of abuser priests. They are being brought to justice in civil courts and NOT by the Church itself; the Church has done nothing to stop bishops from continuing to shield abusive priests and in fact has promoted those bishops and rewarded them…is there a disconnect somewhere?

What really pisses me off is that the bishops are all about religious freedom and fighting the government over new contraception insurance mandates but they will not touch the very important and immediate need of stopping priests from abusing innocent children.

In my Detroit diocese, the idiot bishop got his sheep out to protest the contraception issue as an attack against religious freedom of all things as if that issue has any merit in the real world but not a peep about child abuse as if it never happened and is not happening as we speak…that is enough to get your blood boiling.

I think lowly priests are staring to object to being held as scapegoats in this scandal and I hope they will rebel but unfortunately more and more priests are being imported from other countries where those priests are sheep leading other sheep…we need a priestly warrior to take on the hierarchy!

THE UAW BAILOUT by Obama...

THE DETROIT NEWS: Bailout good for Detroit, but really good for UAW (June 14, 2012).

During this election year you will hear a lot about the government bailout of GM & Chrysler; Obama will take credit for it and Romney will challenge its wisdom as far as taxpayer dollars are concerned…Romney says he could have done it differently.

The one fact that all must agree on is that the bailout did save GM & Chrysler’s asses and preserved jobs in Michigan and overall was a “good” thing BUT…

Obama protected the UAW with billions of taxpayer dollars that we will never see again and that was an outright gift from Obama for what; future political support? - with OUR money?

Yes, the bailout was a huge success but at what cost? The same results would have occurred without bailing out the UAW.

This is my problem with Obama and I am not saying that I will not vote for him, but his love of unionism has got to be controlled if we are to maintain a “market economy” which means you cannot force unionism on companies like Obama has been tending to do, unions must live or die freely; forcing them onto workers is basic Communism and that obviously has not worked in the past…read your history.

I am having a big problem with Obama and his unionism and I will have to weigh that huge negative against, what I perceive are Obama positives like social liberalism.

The unions here in Michigan are trying to put on our ballot a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT that will prohibit any attempts to rein in union power; making them untouchable…talk about the nerve.

While I was at the Canton Festival with my grandsons, we were constantly approached by people collecting signatures for placing issues on the November ballot…I said NO to all issues but my wife signed a few and even though this is our Democratic process in action, I feel those paid signature gatherers MISREPRESENT the issues and to me they are just scammers.

DO NOT SIGN ANY PETITIONS… the only way to be safe and not sorry for allowing some scammers to get on the ballot.

SISTER FARLEY: What she is saying...part 4

JUST LOVE: A FRAMEWORK FOR CHRISTIAN SEXUAL ETHICS by Sister Margaret Farley.

Well now, let us see what the good sister said about catholic sexual ethics that so disturbed the Vatican.

There were a number of good reviews of her book but I found the review by Rowland Croucher most helpful.

I think the biggest difference between Farley and the Vatican is the fact that she accepts the science that tells us that humans are born with a variety of sexual identities which include heterosexual, homosexual and transgender where a man is born into a woman’s body and visa versa.

These are not choices that are freely made to be “abnormal” but are, if you wish, creations of God or of Mother Nature if you prefer and therefore must be treated with respect and sensitivity and not just denigrated into a sin or a disordered condition which the Vatican does and has always done.

Her main point is that justice and love should permeate all relationships, including sexual relationships.

She examines questions of sexual ethics by asking what kinds of motives, under what kinds of circumstances, in what forms of relationships, do we render our sexual selves to one another in ways that are good, true, right and just?

Her “just sex” criteria include: do no unjust harm, free consent, mutuality, equality, commitment, fruitfulness and social justice.

She points out that throughout history, society run by men, stipulated the rules that govern accepted sexual behavior and up to this very day, those rules did not and do not favor women in a just way and definitely in a way that respects equality of genders.

I joked about the issue of masturbation which the Church called an intrinsically and gravely disordered action, telling young boys they will go blind if they practice it. Farley thinks masturbation is OK if it serves relationships instead of burdening them.

As far as contraception is concerned, she believes that no children should be conceived who will be born in a context unconducive to their growth and development in relationships. I have always maintained that forcing women to have children they don’t want is not a good idea for the mother or the child and taking simple contraceptive precautions is not only the smart thing to do but the right thing.

As far as church doctrine is concerned, it is obviously in need of reform since most Catholics including priests and bishops, no longer follow it or think others should follow it; it is flawed and nonsensical in today’s world.

If the Vatican does not reform its backward doctrine it will continue to lose not only authority but relevance and eventually it will have to treated as a ship of fools with a mighty leak.

Note: just to be absolutely fair, I mentioned before that the pope maintained the ban on wearing condoms even in African countries where AIDS and promiscuity are rampant and wearing of condoms could save countless thousands of lives.

Some time ago when Pope Benedict was confronted with the devastating results of his strict adherence to Catholic rules, he bent just a little when he said as an aside, that if the sex act was not for procreation then maybe it would be OK to wear a condom…do you think? I have to give credit where credit is due…???

Back to the issue at hand…without getting too pedantic I would say that what we have here is a nun who is writing about sexual ethics with the world as it is today, as a resource. The pope on the other hand, is maintaining ages old dogma that has not seen the light of reality in many centuries.

What we have here is a progressive assessment of Christian sexual ethics in today’s world and a rock solid, never change attitude of the Vatican which prides itself with never bending to popular opinion…or reality?

The Vatican stance goes all the way back to St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274); died at age 49.

He was declared a Doctor of the Church and his views have been upheld by the church to this very day. I had to study him in high school and especially his “proofs” on the existence of God.

The one interesting thing about him that I remember to this day was that towards the end of his life he suffered what some say was a vision or a stroke or an epiphany or whatever but after that he told his attendant that “All that I have written seems like straw to me” or as I like to say, his house of cards had finally toppled.

I say that because Aquinas modeled himself after Aristotle and tried to logically deduce and therefore prove Catholic dogma / belief system as a fact which he obviously discovered at the end was not at all so.

But I digress…Aquinas was known for his promotion of NATURAL LAW. As to sexuality under this law, sex is allowed only as vaginal intercourse and only in the act of procreation and only between a married couple, every other sexual act is verboten and a mortal sin. So you see that if everybody would follow the law strictly, there would hardly be any sex going on in the world.

Aquinas saw homosexual behavior as something people choose and so is a deliberate sin and an unnatural vice whereas today, most people realize that homosexuals are born that way and there is no choice in the matter.

Since homosexuals are born homosexuals, to them being a homosexual is “natural” so their behavior does not go against natural law as seen by Aquinas and the Church to this day?

But for the Church to change something that it has taught for so many years is very, very hard but it must change…more on what Sister Margaret and others see as necessary changes to the Church’s belief system…

DETROIT: Enough already...

I have been avoiding writing about Detroit’s dance with bankruptcy because the whole matter just pisses me off… it no longer is an issue involving governments or even responsible adults; it has come down to a level of absurdity that cries out for someone, anyone, to take control of this game of fools.

A consent decree was reached between the state and the city which mandated immediate action by a board appointed by all parties involved. The city council cannot seem to find a black candidate to the board that is capable and actually willing to do the council’s bidding.

Now the city attorney has filed a frivolous lawsuit against the state blocking the already agreed to consent decree and this with the mayor’s blessing as the city runs out of money and will be forced into bankruptcy.

Many have told the governor that he has been way too accommodating to the idiots in Detroit and should have either appointed an emergency manager or let them go bankrupt BUT the governor, with an eye to his record in history books, wants to actually fix Detroit in a way pleasing to all parties…not gonna happen!!!

So now the headline in the Detroit Free Press reads: STATE TO PLAY HARDBALL WITH DETROIT…really?

Seems the state will withhold money owed to Detroit if the lawsuit is not dropped and the consent agreement is not immediately implemented.

Mayor Bing is already in the news screaming that Detroit will run out of money next week…good…what the fuck did he expect to happen.

Our governor has the patients of JOB and I guess that is admirable but he is driving the rest of us crazy with his kind patience…
