CAN A LITTLE GIRL DESTROY THE TALIBAN?

Sometimes you see something in the news that you know will change the world as we know it.

That news item was the shooting of 14 year old Malala Yousufzai in Pakistan by the Taliban there. They shot her in the head as a lesson to others that the Taliban dictates how people should behave and anyone defying their rules will be killed.

The Taliban forbid females from going to school and getting an education. We have seen what happens to females that defy them but Malala went ahead and defied them and urged others to join her and she paid the price as many hundreds of women have in the past but something was different this time…

The Pakistan people in her area and throughout the country rallied behind her and against the Taliban saying enough is enough!

I don’t think I have seen this before where women and MEN rallied to her cause and against the Taliban. Even the Pakistani government and military stepped into the fray WITH the people.

The girl has been flown to London for specialized treatment and protection from the Taliban who threatened to finish the job.

Why are the Taliban so against educating women? It is a known and proven fact that once you educate a woman, her whole family becomes educated and the more women that become educated, whole villages will become educated and with education comes enlightenment and enlightenment exposes the Taliban and their way of life as Dark Age, ignorant religious superstition that should have ended centuries ago.

The Taliban have managed to keep their backward way of life alive by sheer terror which they enforced with unbelievable cruelty.

Did it take the bravery of one 14 year-old girl to bring the Taliban down? We shall see…

But the fact that the Pakistani population rallied around her is, I think, a very important sign that things may actually change and it’s about time.

PROPOSAL 2 VISITS MY HOUSE

I have been blogging against Proposal 2 here in Michigan because I consider the proposal an egregious power grab by unions by enshrining their demands in our constitution making it impossible for both voters or state government to exert any control over them.

Their ad campaign “protect Michigan jobs” is so full of shit it is unbelievable but hey, once it passes, they are in control of the state so why not use everything you can to pass the proposal.

Last Sunday, I was visited at home by a trio of so called volunteers for Proposal 2. It was a young man who did the talking and two women dressed in red tea shirts with some type of insignias on them.

I made a mistake by not engaging them but as soon as they said they were here “to protect Michigan jobs” I countered, you mean Proposal 2, the power grab scam by unions?

I guess they must have known at that point that I was well versed about their scam and it would not do them any good to talk to me since I was already decided so they excused themselves and left rather quickly for the next neighborhood front door; they were not prepared to challenge my assertions…

Which is very telling to me meaning they cannot and will not stand up to the challenges being thrown against their assertions.

I can only guess that this trio (with clipboards) was looking for the undecided and especially those that really did not know much about this particular proposal. Once found, this trio would then do their lying song and dance and get another chump to believe their bullshit.

Now that I think about it, the reason they announced that they were “volunteers” was probably to counter all the people that are out their politicking for a fee and the unions are blowing millions on this one so why not hire professional bullshiters.

To those undecided about Proposal 2 because so many recognizable public figures are supporting the proposal on TV, just read the Detroit News and Free Press who have nothing to gain from the unions unlike those public figures supporting the proposal, and you will learn the facts which show how utterly detrimental this proposal is to Michigan and it’s residents.

Vote YES on Proposal 1 and NO on the rest.

A HOLY REDEEMER HIGH ALUMNUS DOES WELL...

My old high school HOLY REDEEMER HIGH of Detroit (Class of 1965) was in the news recently or more accurately, a Holy Redeemer alumnus made some news.

His name is Archbishop Joseph Tobin (60) and he was just named the Archbishop of Indianapolis.

Tobin grew up in the Holy Redeemer southwest Detroit neighborhood (Vernor & Junction), attended school there and became the pastor there through the 1980s.

I remember that the priests there were called REDEMPTORISTS and the nuns that taught there belonged to the order of Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM).

It must have been interesting for him to have attended Holy redeemer schools and parish as a kid and eventually to become pastor there.

One thing that stood out in the report about him, at least to me, was that he is considered a MODERATE and has been critical of the Vatican’s treatment of American nuns…I can only say the man has balls!

I wish him the best of luck and hope that more men of his stature and conviction are called on to occupy high positions in the church because by God, Catholics need more priests like him that are in communion with the real world or at least, it seems he is.

PROPOSAL 4: Union scam...vote NO

The ads promoting Proposal 4 (Home Health Care Workers) are very convincing when they say that the proposal will protect your aging parents or relatives that need home health care by insuring that the workers that take care of them are qualified.

This proposal like all proposals sponsored by unions is SELF-SERVING in that if the proposal passes, the unions get to make money.

Actually, the union (SEIU) Service Employees International Union has been skimming union dues from these workers since 2006 ($30 million YTD) without the workers permission and providing those workers absolutely NOTHING for their money.

When the Republicans in the Michigan legislature put a stop to the union skimming, the union put forth Proposal 4 which would force all workers in the industry to join their union and pay dues as a constitutional requirement…constitutionally forced unionism!

The workers in the home healthcare industry do not make a lot of money ($8/hr) but the union sponsoring this proposal wants to take out union dues out of those meager earnings…and for what?

The union justifies the forced unionization of these low pay workers by saying that they will conduct background checks on these workers and thus protecting the elderly that they care for? Bullshit…Medicare/Medicaid already has a program in place without forcing workers to join a union.

I know many of you are sympathetic to the proposal since many of us have elderly parents and relatives and many of us are becoming elderly ourselves but we MUST recognize a SCAM for what it is and Proposal 4 is a UNION SCAM and will NOT PROTECT YOUR LOVED ONES but will just enrich a greedy union.

I really resent all the lies and misinformation that this union is allowed to push on the general voting public; to me it is unethical and should not be legally allowed.

Don’t be fooled…Detroit newspapers are backing a NO vote on this scam…

NO TO BENTIVOLIO IN DISTRICT 11

The Sunday Free Press also had a huge section on the race for the congressional seat in District 11 left vacant by Thaddeus McCotter (R).

The race is important, as I have stated before, because the district has been a Republican stronghold for many, many years and maybe in danger of turning Democratic.

I was glad to see that the Free Press really did their homework on Kerry Bentivolio, the Republican candidate for the seat. The Free Press and our local paper, the Canton Observer, pushed the fact that Bentivolio has refused to debate with other candidates for the seat and has refused all interviews, basically running a campaign on silence.

He is convinced, I am guessing, that the fact that this district has always voted Republican and will automatically do the same this time even if the candidate is totally unsuitable to be in that position. The Free Press is calling Bentivolio a “front runner” because he is, without even campaigning…do you see a problem here?

Bentivolio was once a home builder who went bankrupt and stiffed many vendors out of thousands of dollars. He became a professional Santa raising his own reindeer as well as a teacher for a few years.

To me, the fact that he will not engage in debates or grant interviews means that he is not willing to let the District 11 electorate get to know him and question him on his positions, automatically disqualifies him from consideration for the position representing District 11 in Washington…I think that has to make sense to everyone voting in the district.

To me, Dr. Syed Taj has earned the right to represent the district in Washington by going to the voters and discussing with them his positions on issues and why he can effectively represent the people in District 11.

NO for Bentivolio

UAW's KING backtracks...

Did you see how fast UAW President Bob King reversed himself after stories of him and Matty Moroun agreeing to support each other in their fight for Proposal 2 & 6?

King quickly changed his stance to “neutral” on Proposal 6, the Ambassador Bridge proposal, after hearing all the screaming coming from people supporting a new bridge to Canada.

Since a new bridge to Canada would provide thousands of jobs, many union jobs, UAW opposition to a new bridge seemed almost ludicrous. Also, the fact that a new bridge would help the auto industry by facilitating faster importing and exporting of autos and auto parts, makes the UAW’s stance against a new bridge downright treasonous; why would you hurt your own employer and therefore yourself?

King must be so desperate to pass his Proposal 2 enshrining unionism into our constitution, that he was willing to make a deal with the devil himself…now that is desperate!

The fact that King declared the UAW as “neutral” to the bridge proposal is also disturbing since union jobs are at stake; he should be against Proposal 6 and for a new bridge.

This whole unfolding debacle should alert Michigan voters to the fact that King and the UAW will stoop to any level to get their Proposal 2 passed because once passed, King and the UAW are in control of the state of Michigan becoming virtual labor dictators, immune from any and all legislative efforts to reign in their power.

The Sunday Free Press has excellent coverage of this whole affair and it would behoove Michiganders to read all about it so they can see how they are being deceived by false advertising…Unionism is NOT a constitutional right!

Yes on Proposal 1 and NO on all the rest…
