Barrett Kalellis’s piece “What happened to unity in times of war?” March 10, shows that President Bush’s spin on the invasion of Iraq has worked on some Americans.

World War II veterans in my family were incensed that Mr. Kalellis dared to compare their war to the current military debacle. They gave their lives to protect this country, a country that was savagely attacked. The invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, terrorism or Al Qaeda, it was a plan hatched by a neoconservative group to change the world order – some members of that group are now publicly stating they were wrong. Mr. Kalellis owes WWII vets an apology.
