I am following developments at the Vatican with keen
interest; after all history is being made.
One of the American cardinals that I think may have an
outside chance of becoming pope is CARDINAL SEAN O’MALLEY and I will tell you
why.
O’Malley is a cardinal but he is also a Franciscan friar;
the Franciscan order is dedicated to helping the poor and downtrodden.
He is very un-cardinal like in that he is not arrogant and
princely like so many are; he is humble and his humility shows in his actions
and bearing.
The Italian press calls him “holy” or at least without
scandal attached to him and his is “ecumenical” in that he successfully
promotes the Catholic faith and not just go through the traditional priestly
motions.
He represents the American church which needs a lot of
attention and has Irish ancestry which would help in bringing the Irish back
into the church.
I don’t know how good of a CEO he would make but he has
qualities that recommend him to the papal position.
