DETROIT: Is there hope?

I have been writing recently about the specific black political culture in Detroit that is keeping the city in a hell hole of incompetence and corruption with no light at the end of the tunnel.

The FBI has been doing some snooping around and it appears that it may be ready to start kicking butt. The former mayor Kilpatrick is definitely a target as well as his father and a number of city council members. It involves a sludge hauling contract that was obtained by the company through bribes.

Bernard Kilpatrick (father of Kwame) actually had an interesting quote he shared with a local reporter, he said “The only difference between Detroit and a third world African country is that there are no goats in the streets of Detroit”.

He was trying to tell us that corruption in Detroit is the “NORM”; that’s how business is conducted in the city so why are you surprised at “pay to play” or “money for votes” issues.

When asked why Detroiters put up with such corruption in their city government, he said Detroiters don’t vote and the people that do vote are the ones benefiting from the corruption in some way; even Obama could not get them out to vote.

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, a first hand view of Detroit by one that practices the corruption that runs the city.

Detroit will be picking a new mayor this month. Lets see if the new mayor will bring real change or just become a part of the existing, incompetent, corrupt city machinery.
