LEGALIZE DRUGS: Obama's Position is political???

In January, we visited CARTAGENA, COLUMBIA as part of our cruise and now look how many times that city is in the news today…amazing coincidence!

Obama was in Cartagena recently to meet with presidents from countries in the Americas. He made one stupid statement, as far as I am concerned, when he stated that DRUGS SHOULD NOT BE LEGALIZED as opposed to what is becoming a clarion call from countries like Mexico that are being destroyed and their populations ravished by drug cartels.

The WAR ON DRUGS has obviously been lost many years ago and is now a total joke since the demand is so great (mainly from the U.S.) and so profitable, that even the cops are getting in on the action.

Legalization would mean control and extra revenue through taxation and most importantly, it would put the drug cartels out of business and save countless lives…this is a no brainer and many, even conservatives, now agree that this is the only way to go.

So why did Obama say the opposite of what is now considered COMMON SENSE?

He probably feels that during an election year, he should not rock the boat or give those voters who feel the drug war is a necessity because to them drug use is somehow sinful and should never be condoned EVEN though they will defend alcohol use to the death.

This is obviously an emotional if not religious issue for many which could be exploited by the Republicans who will exploit their mothers if need be, just to win the presidential office.

I am hoping that once Obama is elected and has nothing to fear from voters since he cannot run again, he will do what needs to be done and what is the right thing to do for everyone’s sake and especially for countries like Mexico who is seeing their citizens massacred by the thousands just for the drug dollar.

DON’T DISAPPOINT ME OBAMA!
