HISTORIC DAY IN MICHIGAN; What I saw on TV...

Well watching the TV news tonight was quite stimulating since the Michigan Right-to-Work protest was on full display for the world to see.

I have to admit that I just love Governor Rick Snyder and how he works. He keeps saying he is not a political animal but a businessman that has Michiganders as clients and therefore has to do what is best for his clients and I believe him big time!

He signed the Right-to-Work bill in private with no public signing ceremony because that would be rubbing salt on the wound and quite unnecessary; the bill is now law, no need to protest any further.

He held an immediate press conference right after signing the bill which was a very smart move because it gave the normal citizen of Michigan a chance to hear why he did it and why it is good for the state (I will go into specifics in a later blog but believe me, it is good for Michigan).

He reiterated that if the unions would not have pushed Proposal 2 to enshrine unionism in our state constitution, this Right-to-Work bill would never have happened so the unions have only themselves to blame for this result.

Watching TV footage of the protests during the day was quite disheartening but totally expected. The protesters had no idea what they were protesting, most of their remarks about the legislation was just plain ignorant, repeating what their leaders told them to say without thinking what the hell they were saying.

As the governor said this legislation is NOT anti-union but PRO-worker. Many union workers are all for this legislation. We all need to understand the “facts” about what this legislation does and does not and quit making stupid statements based on emotion only.

Everybody needs to cool down and start reading and listening to the FACTS to be able to have an intelligent discussion about what will happen and what needs to happen and how we can work well within the new law.

Union leaders need to tone down their rhetoric and understand now that the union members under their command are now their CUSTOMERS and CLIENTS to be treated as such and not to be ordered as mindless zombies to do their bidding.
