I have to stop and mention the win of Wisconsin ’s Governor Scott Walker over the
union forces amassed to recall him for his stand on curtailing union power and
union greed.
This is a most satisfying victory when you remember the
thousands of unionists who descended on the capitol of Wisconsin , hooting and hollering and beating
drums to show that they are the real power in the state and for all politicians
to beware when opposing what unions want.
Wisconsin voters obviously did not buy into the union message
mainly because the union message benefited only the unionists and not the rest
of the population of Wisconsin
AND their demands were felt to be EXCESSIVE and downright GREEDY.
The problem with unions and especially “public” unions is
that their money buys them democrats who obviously give them what they want
since union money elected them and the giving and giving has finally reached a
tipping point where it became unsustainable in today’s economy.
Further, unions are demanding wages and benefits that are so
far above what private sector workers that do the same job receive, that it
becomes not only absurdly unfair but again, unsustainable.
This victory for Walker and the Republicans will hopefully
translate to a victory for all states with unsustainable union wages and
benefits and political power that borders on the illegal and undemocratic.
More and more states are becoming right-to-work states which
has helped the states attract more and more businesses; businesses that thrive
in union free environments and create good paying, stable jobs.
Don’t be fooled by the “middle-class is disappearing and
they are trying to kill the middle-class” arguments. I have addressed that
issue at some length in previous blogs but basically there will always be a
middle class, the newer middle class will be made up of people that actually
work to get into the middle class; unionists demanded higher wages and benefits
in exchange for not striking and not for actually working harder or
smarter…that is not a sustainable scenario because it is a Communist scenario
and we know what happened to them.
Will this hurt Obama who is ostensibly a unionist president?
Well, it might and he is going to have to be very careful how much he gives
into union demands.
Unions cannot guarantee votes; most union members are
actually pretty conservative, but the unions can collect a lot of money from
their members (who cannot object) and give the money to Obama and the Democrats
like they always have. Since it seems elections are won by whoever has the most
money, maybe Obama should court Hollywood
more (he is) and leave the unions to their own demise.
