WEATHER: Forecasting games in Detroit...

We gave all the employees a snow day on Wednesday because were warned that the mother of all storms was going to be descending on Detroit Tuesday night (10 to 16 inches). We did not want people to be risking their lives coming to work.

Wednesday morning we were told that we received maybe 4 to 6 inches of snow and I could see cars zipping down Warren as if nothing had happened.

I will admit that because of the high wind, my house had some major snow drifts but roads appeared fine and our sub’s roads were already plowed when we got up in the morning. I am not sure how much snow accumulation to expect during the day.

All week, Channel Seven (7) WXYZ-TV was warning us about the calamity about to befall us. Schools were closed based on the forecast, some businesses like ours also closed based on the forecast and I don’t know how many thousands of people took the day off based on the forecast and for what…

My wife overheard a lady talking in the grocery store where people were stocking up for the end of the world, that only a weather forecaster can get paid handsomely to be wrong and never apologize for being wrong and the next day, people eagerly tune in to hear the forecast for the next day from the same guy…go figure.

All that fancy and expensive equipment they use to forecast the weather and Mother Nature still has her way. We have escaped all the big snow storms this winter and these guys are not bright enough to temper their words with well…MAYBE we will get this much snow instead of yup, definitely.

I am getting tired of the local news stations making weather as always the breaking news story; we live in Michigan morons, we expect snow.

I also get tired of all those reporters stationed all over the area to report if a snow flake has fallen in their area…how stupid is that and of what benefit to the viewer?

I have been watching WXYZ-TV News since I was a kid but lately I have been surfing; there has to be a saner station somewhere (2 or 4?). I still like the sports guy Don Shane because he is a serious reporter but Diana Lewis needs to retire. Her childish gaga-goo-goo  reporting is embarrassing; Robbie Timmons was good but old and knew when her time was up...Lewis may need a push.

Whoever makes the decisions at the station also needs to be replaced for sacrificing the news for basic feel good bullshit.
