I know many of you do not share my view of unions and especially public unions but I believe that is true because of a lack of information and maybe examples, which I will provide.
I mentioned before that many politicians elected with union money, give unions what they want as a payback for getting elected.
Now the payback is made with our (taxpayer) money and obviously not with the politician’s money. Usually, these paybacks are not made too public and are done without us being the wiser.
That was then and now is now. We are now painfully aware, with money so darn tight, just how this union / politician arrangement works.
Republican Carlos Alvarez was mayor of Miami – Dade. Re-elected in 2008, he was re-called recently by voters for…
Well, Mayor Alvarez increased the pay for public union employees and also unfroze some benefits for the public union employees.
And how was he going to pay for his largesse? Well, he raised property taxes for 2/5ths of county homeowners by 13%.
Do you now see how this works?
The voters said bye-bye and threw his ass out on the street.
We need to start paying attention to where our tax dollars are heading, who is getting them and do they deserve to get them.
