The proposals on the
Michigan
ballot in 2012 were all defeated with 2-6 being defeated soundly.
The only proposal
that I supported and wanted a yes vote on, Proposal 1 was also defeated by a
52-48% margin. This is the proposal that would have allowed the current
Emergency Manager Law to remain in force.
I had a feeling that
with all the TV ads asking everyone to vote NO,NO,NO,NO on all the proposals
(but Proposal 1) the message may get confused and lost even though obviously
the close vote means that many people did hear the message to vote YES on
Proposal 1 only.
It appears that the
proposal was defeated by the votes coming out of Detroit and Wayne County where
city leaders and city pastors that would lose control of the city to emergency
managers, brow beat their underlings to think they were somehow loosing their
democratic rights to a dictator appointed by the white state governor.
Obviously this is a
bunch of racial and power mad bullshit and will hurt them, their children and
their city in the long run by forcing them to go bankrupt and lose all their
rights for a good long time and not only temporarily under an emergency
manager…racial politics scored a pyrrhic victory (which means they won the
battle but they really lost the war).
I hope now, the governor lets Detroit since into the depths
of bankruptcy and when they start screaming for help from the state of Michigan
as they slowly sink, the governor would tell them, you made your bed and now
sleep in it…
