TIME TO LEGALIZE POT...

One of the side shows of this election was the proposals to LEGALIZE MARIJUANA.

I have always maintained that if alcohol sales are legal than not to allow the sale of marijuana to adults is patently absurd.

Smoking is still smoking to me and not good for your lungs. I enjoy a good cigar that is not inhaled with a nice brandy or some other “grown-up beverage” to get to a stage of relaxation that I desire. But if smoking weed is your choice as it is for some of my family and friends, go for it.

The fact that possessing marijuana and smoking it is illegal is a problem. Now that some states passed laws legalizing marijuana is still a problem because it remains a crime in the federal system…what to do?

This is where the Republican’s belief in small government or a government that does not invade all our private affairs makes sense.

I feel Congress needs to return certain rights to the states and one of them is the regulation of marijuana possession and use.

Legalizing marijuana is also good for the economy and for the government who would be allowed to tax the sale of weed. The economy would be bolstered by farmers having a new crop to plant and sell and it would bring down the cost of marijuana through competition AND since it would be legal, police would not have to spend time enforcing the stupid law.

I was buoyed by the fact that DETROIT voted overwhelmingly in favor of legalizing a small amount of marijuana possession and use knowing full well that the police in the city need to do something about all the murders in the city and not who is smoking a little dope.

In fact, over 65% of Detroiters came out to vote which I believe is a record and is a good sign for the city and its occupants.

Hey, I may actually be seeing a little progressive attitude in the country…great job WASHINGTON & COLORADO!!!
